So what can you do to help your winter skin?
HYDRATE! HYDRATE! HYDRATE! The elements in winter sucks the moisture out of your skin. You need to moisturise more, add a nightly serum to lock in the moisture and even do weekly moisturising masks. Winter is a moisture thief and gives absolutely no relief to your skin.
LATHER ON THE SUNSCREEN!
Those clouds that you think is a layer of protection for your skin, actually adds to skin damage. Those damaging UV Rays cuts right through those clouds and its glare can be very damaging.
So put on the sunscreen, especially on your face and your hands!
While you would like to soak up the heat of a long shower or bath, try to limit the time you expose your skin to hot water, as this will dry out your skin quicker. Gently pat your skin dry, don’t rub vigorously. Apply good moisturising products while your skin is still damp for good absorption.
Drink water! We know that a glass of cold water may not be the first thing you grab on a cold winter’s day but by drinking enough water during the day, it will not only help your body functions, it helps give your skin a better appearance.
Have a balance! We tend to indulge in all those comfort foods but take note of which foods feed your skin and which foods rob your skin. Eat healthier foods that are lower in sugar and saturated fats.
